Tshirt/Self Update

Hey everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't been writing much lately. Life is changing very quickly for me and I'm still on medicines that make me fall asleep much earlier than I'm used to. I'm still having pain management issues that keep me in bed most of my days off from school and work.

I am trying to get it together with the tshirts [sent another email for an estimate today] and am hoping that this will get a response. It is incredibly frustrating that I haven't been able to get there in person or to get an adequate response to place the orders.

In classes I spend time thinking up possible careers for myself in terms of specialties and nursing. It is becoming more clear to me that my original plan may not work out because of the amount of lifting that I would need to be able to do. While it is upsetting, it gives me time to think about other options that my field offers me. I have been thinking about the idea of working with endometriosis patients and/or in a surgical unit as part of a specialty doctor's team. We shall see. Luckily I have time before I need to make any decisions like that.

Injections, pumps, and tubing

Morning everyone!

Yesterday I went back to the doctor and had a conversation, which is odd because usually I just let him talk and then say thank you and agree to whatever he wants of wherever he sends me. A conversation was actually nice, and helpful to me.

He did a lidocaine injection again and is under the impression that my abdominal wall may be involved in all of my postop pain. Furthermore, he discussed the possibility of installing a lidocaine pump that would give me around the clock pain care under his control of dosing. I have made up my mind that at least in the short term it would provide some relief and am hoping to have the procedure done on October 1st.

Here is some information on the lidocaine pump that I found pretty quickly. It seems similar to a diabetic insulin pump.

I am hoping that it will give me some relief until a long term plan is in view. The doctor explained that it wouldn't be permanent.

Another important topic I wanted to bring up is the Endo Warriors buddy program that allows girls to connect with each other for support. It is a great group of women that discuss their progress and their experience with endo. They are available on Facebook and Twitter so please check them out.

Today, we remember September 11, 2001. As I live in the NY, it is an important day of remembrance for those that have suffered and sacrificed for the freedoms that we have. Please take the time to think about their strength and that of their families on this day.

PostOp Pain and CHai Tea Lattes

I haven't been writing a lot lately, mostly because school has started up again and so has work. The increased stress is doing a number on my system. I am experiencing pain almost everyday as bad as before my surgery and it is discouraging and upsetting me a little more everyday along with adding doubt. I'm waiting to hear back from the doctor anxiously and hoping he'll tell me this is normal but I don't completely believe it is at this point.

I have begun testing out herbal treatments and drinking a lot of chai tea (not so sure if it helps so much as it comforts me). I got in touch with some old friends and am continuing to make new friends in the endo community. The support system is important but I find I'm feeling incapable of being me and doing what I'd like to do. I feel like a burden to friends and family that need to constantly compromise their plans and activities so that I can join them.

Today, I am planning on seeing the t-shirt designer again and placing an order so I can start to get them out to everyone. I've been getting a lot of questions about orders lately and am working as quickly as possible to get in the first bulk order in! More updates tonight hopefully, but I've been falling asleep early these days.
